Leadership Style and Emotional Intelligence Many organizations and groups are established each day, but only a few realize their dreams. Although many factors are responsible for the differences in success and failure of organizations, leadership is a prime factor. Leaders play a significant role in determining the success or failure of an organization. Management studies have attempted to understand leadership including defining the skills that a leader requires to become successful. Emotional intelligence has emerged as one of these skills. According to Antonakis, Ashkanasy, Dasborough (2009), emotional intelligence has loomed over the past few years. Evans (2015), Anand UdayaSuriyan (2010), and Lopez-Zafra, Garcia-Retamero, Martos (2012) have echoed similar sentiments. In this regard, emotional intelligence has become an important aspect as far as leadership is concerned. The studies cited indicate that researchers have found significant relationships between emotional intelligence and leadership. Therefore, this study seeks to go a step further and investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence and transformational leadership and the extent that emotional intelligence predicts leadership style and is not consistently considered in the selection of business leaders.
